RVIA updated its membership Monday on the association’s work with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and its Advanced Clean Truck (Act) rule.
Because there are no certified zero emissions chassis rated for motorhomes, the CARB’s Act regulation could affect motorhomes’ availability in California this year.
Motorhomes can still be sold through using the carbon credit market or generating a carry-forward deficit that chassis manufacturers will have to offset within three years.
RVIA said it is in active discussions with CARB, along with manufacturers and dealer partners, to identify and implement practical solutions for California RVers.
RVIA said it remained committed to working toward a sustainable path forward that supports both CARB’s goals and the RV lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the Act rule is set to be adopted this year by Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Washington. RVIA contacted the state trucking associations in the five states. RVIA said it was willing to participate in coalitions with these states to advocate for an RV exemption or delay in implementation.
