The holiday season has arrived in the U.S., and consumers are planning RV adventures. RVIA found that 21 million Americans plan to take an RV trip between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, with 9 million traveling for Thanksgiving and 7 million RVing for Christmas.
The association’s recent survey analyzed how and why consumers are traveling this season.
RVIA spokesperson Monika Geraci said, “The holidays are a special time to connect with loved ones, and RVing provides the perfect opportunity to gather with family and friends while enjoying the beauty of nature or having your own accommodations while visiting family.”
The study found that 63% of holiday RVers will visit family, while 57% are taking road trips. More than half (57%) of consumers are snowbirding, while 45% are seeking winter/snow-based activities.
Nearly a quarter of leisure travelers said they would like to purchase an RV in the coming months, while 35% plan to take an RV trip within the next year.
“This holiday season, millions of Americans are embracing the joy of winter RV travel and reaping the rewards of outdoor recreation,” Geraci said. “From strengthening family bonds to boosting your well-being, RVing offers a unique blend of adventure and rejuvenation.”
According to RVIA, outdoor recreation during winter months can boost travelers’ immune systems through sunlight exposure, improve moods/lower stress levels and increase physical activity through activities such as hiking, skiing or snowshoeing.
As the holidays spread across the nation, RV travel will accompany the season.
