RVIA said more than 120 members participated in 111 meetings with federal representatives during Advocacy Day on June 8. Over a third of participants were at their first Advocacy Day event, RVIA said.
Members discussed support for the recently introduced legislation to treat towable RVs like motorhomes in the tax code. RVIA said additional bill co-sponsors expressed their support because of Advocacy Day.
Other highlights RVIA touted from the event are:
- Introducing legislators and regulators to electric RV technology. Airstream’s eStream and Winnebago’s eRV2 motorhomes were on display to provide a first-hand look at the technological advancements in the industry.
- Advocates shared the RV industry’s specific impact on state and local communities. Opening meetings with data detailing the industry’s direct economic impact showed the industry’s reach to constituents.
- Strong relationships with administration officials were reinforced. Meetings were conducted with representatives of the U.S. Forest Service about campground modernization and with the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to discuss the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) and lauan. Interior Department Assistant Secretary Shannon Estenoz addressed members earlier in the week about outdoor recreation.
