After two months of the lowest wholesale RV shipments of 2023, RVIA’s survey of manufacturers found shipments increased to the highest levels in the past quarter.
RVIA’s survey found 28,701 total wholesale RV shipments. The total is down 16.9% from August 2022, when the industry shipped 33,783 RVs.
However, the August total is up 40% from the 20,520 shipments in July 2023.
RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said: “In recent years, we have seen RV buyers get younger and more diverse. September is an exciting month for the RV industry as many manufacturers debut new units and features to appeal to these new RV buyers.”
Through the first eight months of 2023, RV wholesale shipments are down 45% from the first eight months of 2022, with 213,421 total shipments in 2023.
Towable RVs ended the month down 14.6% from August 2022 with 23,941 shipments.
Motorhomes finished the month down 28.3% compared with the same month last year with 4,130 units.
“With RVs available at nearly every price point and with features that allow people to work from the road and get off-grid,” Kirby said, “RVing remains one of the most affordable ways for people and families to travel and make lifelong memories.”
