In response to the growing need for more trained RV technicians, the RV Technical Institute began an intensive technician recruitment effort for 2022 that aims to bring in 1,000 individuals from outside of the RV industry.

Even though it is still early in the year, the institute has already been making great strides towards their goal, according to the RV Industry Association. The RVTI team has attended four major events so far and is planning many more to come as the year progresses.

Curt Hemmeler, RVTI executive director, said there has been a lot of interest from dealerships and individuals.

“The phones are ringing off the hook,” Hemmeler said. “We are encouraged by the momentum and the strong show of interest, and we are excited to continue our recruitment efforts as we work to enroll a thousand new technicians into our training program and ensure more people are able to enjoy traveling in their RVs.”

The RV Technical Institute’s recruitment kickoff began at the 2022 Florida RV SuperShow, which takes place annually in Tampa, Florida. Opening day had over 20,000 participants, setting an audience attendance record and giving RVTI many opportunities to network with interested individuals.

RVTI staff is also working closely with school counselors to share the RV technician career path with high school students. Hemmeler attended a three-day American School Counselor Association conference which had an audience of over 600 high school counselors from across South Carolina.

The team then presented at the NTP-Stag Expo in late January in Las Vegas. The Institute’s Director of Recruitment Tracy Anglemeyer presented information on RVTI’s 2022 recruitment campaign, the new subscription plans and the sense of unity that surrounds the effort to train current technicians and recruit even more.

Finally, RVTI kicked off the month of February at the Detroit RV & Camping Show which welcomed more than 27,000 people through the doors of the 5-day consumer show.
