RVIA is touting its political action committee, RVPAC, following several legislative and regulatory policy successes.
The association uses the committee to solicit legislative changes positive to the RV industry from Congress and launched the PAC to uplift RV industry voices during the 2020 election cycle.
“Legislation can be passed that either advances or stifles the RV industry,” RVIA said in its announcement. “To help ensure it is the former and not the latter that gets enacted into law, we need to be involved in the political process.”
RVIA uses the PAC to solicit and accept contributions from association executives and administrative personnel, as well as association member employees, for use in supporting candidate campaigns. Corporations are prohibited by federal law to make contributions to candidates for federal elected office.
Before the PAC can solicit donations, authorization must be granted. Any individual at an RVIA member company who can grant the authorization to RVPAC (typically an owner, CEO, vice president or other senior executive) can sign the authorization form on behalf of his or her company. The prior authorization form can be found here.
Granting prior authorization does not obligate a company or its employees to support RVPAC. Authorization gives the RVIA permission to communicate in greater detail about the PAC to certain employees (executives, managers, stockholders and their families) about the role RVPAC plays in advancing and protecting industry interests in Washington, D.C.
RVIA will release additional information about RVPAC in the coming weeks following obtaining written authorization from corporate members. After this, RVIA will begin to solicit and accept contributions from employees of member companies. All personal contributions to RVPAC from eligible donors are voluntary.
