The Shyft Group, parent company of Spartan RV Chassis, participated in a Fireside Chat at the Barclays Global Automotive and Mobility Tech Conference Nov. 30. President and CEO Daryl Adams and CFO Jon Douyard discussed the company’s portfolio, Blue Arc EV technology and future growth.
Adams said the company will focus on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives going forward. The Shyft Group will bring in automotive consultants to help the company with those initiatives, Adams said.
During a question-and-answer session at the end of the chat, Douyard spoke about Spartan RV Chassis and the company’s specialty vehicle (SV) portion of the business.
“Our SV team continues to perform at a tremendous level…They did 15% in the third quarter. For the first time they eclipsed $100 million in revenue, which is another nice milestone,” Douyard said. “I think if you look at that business on a year-to-date basis, it is about 13%. I think that is more representative of a run rate as we look forward.”
Douyard referred to continuous quality improvement and lean manufacturing when discussing the Shyft Group specialty vehicle sector’s future growth.
“The expectation is that we continue to drive margin expansion year-over-year,” Douyard said. “We really like how (the SV) business has grown and how we have been able to execute on an operational throughput perspective. We are seeing that in the financial results, which we are extremely proud of. The team has done a fantastic job.”
