Campspot, an online booking site for private campgrounds, said a special 2024 event already is drawing consumers’ interest and reservations.
A total solar eclipse will take place April 8, 2024. The total eclipse will be visible in states from Texas to Maine and encompass cities including Dallas; Little Rock, Arkansas; Cleveland; Buffalo, New York; Burlington, Vermont; and Caribou, Maine.
Campspot said consumer searches for campground stays including April 8, 2024, are up 120% nationwide and up 700% year-over-year in states along the full totality path.
“Camping offers the perfect opportunity to fully immerse oneself in nature while enjoying the eclipse,” said Erin Stender, Campspot chief marketing officer. “Campers can set up their telescopes, chairs, and blankets to witness the eclipse in a comfortable and peaceful setting. Additionally, more campgrounds are offering educational programs and activities related to astronomy, allowing visitors to learn more about the eclipse and the stars above.”
Campground inventory is generally available 365 days before the date. Reservations made via Campspot for the weekend of the 2024 eclipse increased 40% year-over-year. More campground inventory is made available daily.
Campspot created an eclipse booking page with tips, FAQs and recommended locations.
