Walex Products Co. is soaking up sunshine to power its manufacturing facility in Brunswick County, North Carolina. The cleaning chemical supplier installed a 300,000-watt solar array atop the facility’s roof.
The installation is part of Walex’s sustainability mission.
Walex RV and Marine Sales Manager Tony Butler said, “Our solar panel project is not just an investment in renewable energy; it is a commitment to our community, customers and the planet. By reducing our reliance on traditional energy sources, we are paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.”
The 300,000-watt solar array will generate approximately 427,000 kilowatt-hours of energy annually.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture funded Walex’s endeavor through the Rural Energy for America Program Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Grant.
In addition to solar power, Walex operates electric forklifts and implemented a package recycling program. The supplier makes eco-friendly cleaning chemical formulas while maintaining performance.
