The Shyft Group, Spartan RV Chassis’ parent company, found success in motor coach chassis sales in the past quarter.
President and CEO Daryl Adams told analysts on a conference call that the company posted motor home sales growth in the past quarter, the first time it has done so since 2018.
“Our luxury motor coach chassis operations benefited from the ongoing resurgence of the RV industry emerging from the pandemic,” Adams said, according to a transcript of the call provided by Seeking Alpha. “With the rebound in demand, our motorhome chassis line increased daily production levels throughout the quarter.”
The specialty vehicles unit, which includes Spartan, has backlogs of $52 million. The unit posted motor coach chassis quarterly records the past two quarters. Demand and share gains drove growth, Adams said.
“It’s both. When I have two options, I usually say they’re 50-50. So let’s say that increased volume is split between two. One is the demand and one is because we’re exclusive on more products with our customers,” Adams said, according to the Seeking Alpha transcript. “We gained exclusivity on with one of our customers. And then you have the natural increase due to people wanting to RV versus air travel and stay in hotels. So, it’s split down the middle of both of those.”
