The storms which came through Elkhart County on Wednesday and Thursday, leaving homes and businesses without power, reached 75 mph in Elkhart and Bristol, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) of Northern Indiana.
NWS Meteorologist Rachel Cobb characterized the storms as straight line in nature. “Counties especially hard hit were Elkhart, Marshall, and Kosciusko Counties in Indiana,” the NWS website reported.
In an Elkhart Truth report, more than 1,200 customers in the Elkhart area remained without power Friday, according to Indiana Michigan Power.
