A mock trial returns to the RVDA Convention/Expo as this year’s “Super Lawyers” session will train dealers about avoiding consumer lawsuits.

The panel will empower audience members as trial jurors. The Super Lawyer’s Session takes place from 2–4 p.m. Nov. 8.

RVDA President Phil Ingrassia said: “This panel have proven to be popular with our members, and this year’s group promises to feature new strategies that dealers, manufacturers, and their management teams can use to avoid expensive and time-consuming litigation. It is always better to start thinking about topics like this in a seminar session before any of it becomes a reality.”

Speakers presenting during the session include Dave Thomas, Keystone RV general counsel; Harold Oehler, mediator and RV dealer/manufacturer trainer, Oehler Mediation and Training; and James S. Ganther of Mosaic Compliance Services, LLC. RVDA Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs Brett Richardson will emcee.

Also presenting during this session is Tobi Conroy, Thor Motor Coach consumer affairs liaison, and Judy Bolton, Lazydays’ former director of customer experience and a current RV industry consultant.

A companion session will be held Thursday morning, titled “How to Partner with your Manufacturer to Take Control of Litigation and Recover Your Customer.” Oehler will emcee the Thursday morning session from 10:15-11:15 a.m.

These two training sessions will teach dealers:

  • How to partner with their manufacturers to prevent consumer lawsuits,
  • How to eliminate lawsuits inexpensively and quickly as soon as the claim is filed.
  • How to work together with your manufacturer so that the manufacturer is more likely to pay for the dealer’s legal defense and protect the dealer from judgment.

The Super Lawyers training sessions were conceived by Oehler, a full-time mediator and dealer trainer with more than 30 years of experience litigating and mediating RV defect and accident claims involving RV dealers and manufacturers.
