The National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) received 10 new generators from Next-Gen Power Systems (NPS) for use in the school’s hands-on labs.
The NPS model Y6000eco generators use a Yamaha engine and a microprocessor control with proprietary pure sine wave inverter technology.
The generators meet National Park Service requirements for campground use. The generators also include a U.S. Forest Service-approved spark-arresting muffler, according to the company’s website.
The donations will be used in advanced training classes focused on RV electrical power systems as well as on-board generators. Using them in hands-on labs enables students to learn exactly how the systems are intended to operate, which makes troubleshooting problems easier, said Todd Henson, NRVTA director of education.
“NPS is getting into the RV manufacturing market after being in the aftermarket for several years,” Henson said. “The company wants to ensure there are enough skilled technicians trained to work on their products. The industry is seeing greater demand for gas and diesel generators installed as original equipment on RVs. This donation helps NRVTA fill the gap for skilled and trained generator technicians.”
