RVshare’s quarterly “The Road Ahead” guide examined budget-friendly travel preferences from RVshare renters.
RVshare, a peer-to-peer RV rental online platform, surveyed renters who traveled using RVshare in the past six months. Among the findings from the survey: only 7% of respondents said they will not be traveling because of economic factors, even though 67% said economic factors hindered their travel plans.
Nearly one in five respondents said they were cutting costs in other areas to make a summer trip happen. Just under half (45%) said inflation affected their travel plans but they were looking for more affordable travel options.
“The Road Ahead” also cited survey results from Wakefield Research. The research found 81% of parents were likely to consider renting an RV for a future trip.
Sixty-nine percent of parents said they would be interested in an RV for an extended local travel trip and 53% said they would use an RV for long-distance travel.
Parents also were asked about the top family RV travel benefits. Respondents cited kitchen practicalities (59%) as the top benefit with comfortable seating (58%), budget-friendly travel (57%) and unique bonding opportunities (51%) as other top reasons why they preferred to RV.
Eco-friendly options were important to 74% of renters surveyed in a poll leading up to Earth Day, April 22. Renters cited solar panels (73%), fuel efficiency (68%) and energy-efficient appliances (55%) as top eco-friendly features sought in an RV.
In “The Road Ahead” survey respondents cited the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina as a hot travel destination.
Those surveyed chose Memorial Day weekend as a popular RV event on the horizon as well as the Coachella music festival, the Kentucky Derby, the Bonnaroo music festival, NASCAR racing at Dover Speedway and the Indianapolis 500.
