Sanitation product manufacturer Thetford joined in the industry trend of supporting healthcare workers and other companies battling the coronavirus pandemic this week.
Thetford has a long history as an innovator of mobile sanitation and refrigeration products used in the RV market. In the midst of the current COVID-19 outbreak, Thetford is using its supplies to ensure hand sanitizer reaches neighboring communities in need. The company donated thousands of bottles and tools to a local hand sanitizer maker in Michigan.
“In times of crisis, it’s important for us to do what we can to help the community,” said Barry Eckel, Thetford’s Executive Vice President, The Americas. “Michigan is one of the most affected states across the country. As a company proudly headquartered in the southeast corner of the state, we feel it’s our duty to contribute and help reduce the spread of the virus.”
Thetford recently donated more than 4,400 bottles and sprayers to a local partner, Ugly Dog Distillery, who creates an FDA approved sanitizer solution. Pint sized bottles are available for free at the distillery, and bulk orders can be placed by frontline organizations and essential businesses. Thetford’s contribution helps maintain the operation’s supply for the increasing community demand.
One of the many businesses that received hand sanitizer is the St. Louis Center, a residential community that cares for adults and children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, located in Chelsea, Michigan.
“We still have several bottle deliveries that are being prepared for shipment,” Barry said. “At Thetford, we are proud to do our part in aiding the community during this difficult time, and we are thankful for partners like Ugly Dog Distillery who are using their capabilities and partnering with us to help make a difference.”
Other companies, such as the REV Group, also began donating supplies or equipment to support nationwide healthcare efforts this month. REV Recreation Group, manufacturer of Fleetwood RV, Holiday Rambler and American Coach motorhomes, announced last week it donated boxes of N-95 masks to the staff at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.
