Thor Industries is partnering with Harbinger Motors, a commercial electric vehicle (EV) company, to hasten the company’s plans to electrify its RV lineup.
“Thor is excited to partner with Harbinger Motors to enhance the electrified RV experience for our consumers,” Thor’s Chief Operating Officer Todd Woelfer said. “Identifying the right partners is key to our electrification strategy.”
Los Angeles-based Harbinger officially launched in September 2022. The company’s initial product line will include electric stripped chassis and cab chassis designed for Class 4 to Class 7 commercial vehicles, the company said.
At its launch, Harbinger said its first vehicles are expected in customers’ hands in late 2023, followed by volume production launch in 2024. The company made its public debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in September.
Thor is committed to enhancing the RV experience through a holistic, global innovation strategy unveiled in earlier this year, the company said.
John Harris, Harbinger’s CEO, said combining Thor and Harbinger’s proprietary solution creates an exciting opportunity.
“This partnership validates the uniqueness of our technology platform and how our EV ecosystem view will benefit Thor’s RV consumers,” Harris said. “Harbinger and Thor share a passion for maximizing the electrified experience of RVers and our partnership will bring leading solutions to the market with both speed and scale.”
Woelfer said the partnership goes beyond an RV chassis and is instead focused on developing an electrified RV ecosystem.
“Harbinger is aligned with the Thor family of operating companies and our global innovation team,” Woelfer said, “to position us to help deliver the RV experience today’s owners seek and tomorrow’s RVers dream of.”
