UL Solutions Warns of Battery’s Unauthorized Certification Mark

UL Solutions, a safety science company providing testing, inspection and certification services, issued a public notice for RV dealers and technicians.

The notice states lithium battery supplier Kepworth, a Chinese manufacturer, sells a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) Deep Cycle Battery with an unauthorized UL Certification Mark.

UL Solutions said it has not evaluated the battery to its appropriate safety standards, and it is unknown if the product complies with any safety requirements. The company recommends that the battery be removed because of the uncertainty.

Name of Product: Kepworth LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Battery, Model 24V60Ah

The following markings appear on blue labels affixed to the battery:

  • Kepworth
  • LiFePO4 DEEP CYCLE BATTERY
  • Model 24V60Ah
  • Nominal Voltage 25.6V
  • Nominal Capacity 60Ah
  • Energy 1536Wh

An additional label may appear on the battery with the following markings:

  • Model: 2460YD
  • Voltage: 25.6V
  • Capacity: 60Ah
  • Wattage: 1536Wh

The Kepworth LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Batteries are sold through eCommerce retailers including Walmart and Amazon.
