British Columbia-based Voyager RV Centre said its 2023 charitable campaign is making significant strides toward its annual goal of donating over $100,000 to local charities.
The campaign, titled Voyager Cares, has donated over $88,000 to local charities so far in 2023.
Voyager RV Vice President Jason Friesen said: “While our core business revolves around sales and servicing of RVs, we believe in extending our impact beyond that. I just think there has to be more to it, and I feel like as business operators, we have a responsibility to our community.”
Voyager Cares kicked off in early 2023 with two donations totaling $31,950. Throughout the spring and summer, charities receiving donations included the Kelowna Hospice House ($11,250), Mamas for Mamas ($15,150), the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation ($13,050) and the BC Cancer Foundation ($17,250).
Every Voyager RV employee has a chance to vote for the charities closest to their hearts. The top eight charities are chosen to receive donations throughout the year, with each charity assigned a specific month(s).
Chris Mayeda of the BC Cancer Foundation said: “These funds are going to help go toward revitalization. The first step is a brand-new, world-class systemic therapy suite that will be patient-centered and will bring Phase One clinical trials for the first time ever to the interior of BC.”
In September and October, Voyager Cares beneficiaries are Paws It Forward Dog Rescue and Critteraid Animal Sanctuary.
Voyager RV Centre has been locally owned and operated in Lake Country, BC, since 1984. For more about Voyager Cares, contact Vice President Jason Friesen at 250-766-4607 or [email protected] or General Manager Ward Fraser at [email protected].
