For the first time this year, RVIA reported wholesale RV shipments in 2022 are lower than at the same point in 2021.
RVIA’s August survey of manufacturers found total wholesale RV shipments equaled 33,873. The number is down 36% compared with August 2021.
Through the first eight months of the year, RVIA reported the industry shipped 387,261 wholesale RVs, down 2.6% compared with the first eight months of 2021.
“While below last year’s record numbers, this new report shows RV shipments are normalizing back to where they were prior to the pandemic,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said. “RVing remains a very popular choice for millions of Americans as we head into the fall camping and tailgating season.”
Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, were down 41.5% from August 2021 at 28,026 shipments. Motorhomes were up 16.8% compared with August 2021 at 5,757 shipments.
