RVIA reported November wholesale RV shipments falling 50.4% from November 2021 totals. However, the industry remained on pace to ship 500,000 wholesale RVs in 2022, which would be the third-highest total in industry history.

November 2022 wholesale RV shipments totaled 24,445 units. The figure is the lowest monthly shipment total since April 2020, when the industry totaled 7,197 wholesale RV shipments as pandemic shutdowns kept plants closed.

The November 2022 total is the lowest monthly non-pandemic-influenced wholesale RV shipment number since January 2019, when 25,540 shipments were recorded. November 2022’s total is the lowest monthly wholesale RV shipment total recorded since at least 2016.

Through November 2022, wholesale RV shipments totaled 472,691. To reach 500,000, the industry would need to ship 27,309 RVs in December. The average monthly wholesale RV shipment total from September through November is 28,477.

“RV shipments are continuing to normalize off of last year’s record numbers and 2022 is looking to be the third-highest year for RV shipments, in spite of challenging macroeconomic factors impacting the industry and economy at large,” RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby said. “The industry remains focused on serving our existing customers, many who have entered the RV lifestyle for the first time in the past few years and expanding the pool of consumers interested in purchasing a new RV in the coming years.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month down 53.5% from November 2021 with 20,502 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month down 24.7% compared with November 2021 with 3,943 units.
