In celebration of Earth Month, Winnebago Industries will partner with the environmental nonprofit Leave No Trace to promote environmental stewardship in RVing and boating.
Leave No Trace’s 7 Principles have been adapted into guidelines to enable RVers and boaters to protect the outdoors.
Stacy Bogart, Winnebago chief legal officer and corporate responsibility lead, said the manufacturer aims to protect the outdoors and encourages its customers to do the same.
She said, “Our partnership with Leave No Trace supports our efforts to protect people and planet by promoting education on how to be good stewards of the outdoors while using our products.”
The partnership’s RV guidelines aim to offer the best practices to protect campgrounds, parks and other outdoor areas. The guidelines include park only in designated RV locations or on durable surfaces, keep pets leashed or inside the RV to protect them and surrounding wildlife, and drive slowly and cautiously in campgrounds and shared spaces.
Leave No Trace Executive Director Dana Watts said responsible recreation is key to preserving the outdoor spaces.
“These new guidelines equip RVers and boaters with simple, effective ways to minimize their impact while still embracing adventure,” Watts said. “We are proud to partner with Winnebago Industries to bring these best practices to the community.”
Leave No Trace’s 7 Principles include plan ahead and prepare, travel and camp on durable surfaces, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find, minimize campfire impact, respect wildlife, and be considerate of other visitors.
