Yellowstone National Park reported parkwide vehicle entries over Labor Day weekend were 21% higher than the same weekend in 2019.
The Friday of the weekend, vehicle entries rose 25% from 2019 to 8,945. The next day, entries rose to 11,062, up 24% from 2019.
The Sunday of the holiday weekend, entries rose 20% from 2019 to 12,380. On Labor Day, entries rose to 9,982, up 17% from 2019.
Yellowstone also recorded its busiest August on record. NPS said the park hosted 921,844 recreation visits in August 2021, a 4.5% increase from August 2020 and a 12% increase from August 2019. Previously, the busiest August on record was in 2017, the year of the solar eclipse, with 916,166 recreation visits.
After eight months in 2021, Yellowstone hosted 3,590,904 recreation visits, up 40% from the same period last year and up 15% from 2019.
